A co-operative, not a bank
A SACCO is a savings and credit co-operative: a member-owned financial organisation where people with something in common pool their savings and lend to one another on fair, transparent terms.
- You are a part-owner, not a customer.
- Surplus comes back to members as dividends.
- Decisions are made democratically by members.
- It exists to serve members, not outside shareholders.
Save
Members contribute regular savings and buy shares in the co-operative.
Borrow
Members access affordable loans from the pooled funds.
Grow
Savings earn dividends, and the co-operative grows with its members.
What members can save for and borrow against
See every product-
Savings account
The heart of the co-operative. Members contribute every month and build the fund everyone borrows from.
-
Share capital
Shares make you a part-owner. They set your dividend, though never your vote — that stays one per member.
-
Development loan
For growing a business: stock, equipment, premises or the working capital to take on a bigger order.
-
Emergency loan
A smaller, faster facility for medical costs, funerals and the things that do not wait.
-
Agricultural loan
Seasonal credit for members farming: inputs before planting, repaid after harvest.
-
School fees loan
Term-time credit so school fees never depend on how trade went that month.

All questions
How do I become a member?
Apply online through this website, or collect a paper form from the office. You will need your national ID, a passport photograph, proof of where you live and your signature. Once your application is approved, you pay your joining fee and share capital and start saving.
Who can join Taumba SACCO?
Membership is open and voluntary to everyone within the accepted common bond. Taumba was founded by and for women entrepreneurs in manufacturing, farming, services, fashion and trade. What members share is a commitment to save every month.
What documents are required?
Four things: a copy of your national ID, a recent passport photograph, proof of residence such as a utility bill or lease, and your signature. Photographs taken on a phone are fine as long as the text is readable.
